DJ Desiplaya – Founder a.k.a. The International IdolLocation: Oregon
“We all have a strong passion for music! Everyone in XDV has a passion for music and love what they do," asserted DJ Desiplaya.
Started DJing/mixing: When I was 16
"DJ P and I started XDV for the love of music. And then we met DJ Mashup from Delaware, DJ India from New Orleans and now DJ @bhi from India. Together we have made Xplicit Desi Vibes the number one urban South Asian production & remix crew in the US and are on the verge of heading international. I can hold my head up high and say that quite proudly! And then of course, we got our big sis aka Lil’ T who keeps us all on track. We’re family man…recognize! We’ve worked hard to get where we are today and we’ve done a lot of amazing mixes and the production that’s starting to come out of XDV is beyond phenomenal. We’ve got the opportunity to work with some great urban Desi artists, not just in the US but also in Canada, the U.K. and India. I can’t keep saying it over and over again, but we’re going international baby!"
Favorite XDV Memory:
It’s gotta be the chance to work with such astounding talent in the Desi scene.

DjP – Co-Founder
Location: Jersey & Long Island
“I couldn’t come up with anything sensational,” states DjP, “so I went with something simple and took the first letter of my name and called myself djP.”
Starting DJing/mixing: Age of 12
“My first remix was the title song of Aap Mujhe Aache Lagne Lage, and unfortunately the remix was lost with my old computer! But my favorite remix so far has to be the ‘Summer Jam Dhol Mix’ from our mixtape, I’m Back 2007. My first album was ‘The 05 Vibe,’ and it came out when I first started making beats. Jay Sean and Rishi Rich are definitely my favorite Desi artists. And if I could produce and work with any Desi artist, it would be Rishi Rich and Himesh Reshammiya! Five years from now, I see urban South Asian music at the top!”
Favorite XDV Memory:
When I paid $3 for my own album, haha!

DJ Mashup – Intoxicating ‘Mashups’
Location: Delaware
DJ Mashup is way to cool for an artist bio! We’re hoping that Mashup realizes that we need an artist bio from him and get’s it to us sooner than later ;-) Haha! Check out his MySpace page for new remixes!

DJ India – Dirty South Desi
Location: New Orleans
“I picked the name DJ India because I wanted to represent who I am, where I’m from, and what I do,” DJ India laughed.
Starting DJing/mixing: Age of 15
“I still remember my first remix. It was to the Chris Brown song ‘Run It,’ with a Desi flavor. Simply put, I called it the ‘Rut It (Indian Remix),’ haha! But my most favorite remix has gotta be the ‘Punjabi Naara’ track I did. My debut mixtape with XDV was called ‘Reppin’ 504.’ There were mixed reviews on the mixtape, but I had to do something to represent the Dirty South and where I’m from! With that said, my favorite mainstream artist is Lil Wayne and of course, Rishi Rich is my favorite Desi artist. Yo, if I could co-produce with anyone from the mainstream scene, without a doubt it’d be Timbaland. He’s sick when it comes to production! But on the real, Desi music is headed in a good direction. Who knows where it will be five or ten years from now…how about you come and ask me then!”
Favorite XDV Memory: Getting a MySpace message from XDV on September 2nd (2006) asking me to join.

DJ @bhi – One Man Mixin' MachineLocation: India
“I picked DJ @bhi to match it with my name, but with a difference,” DJ @bhi stated, “and it actually helps me to get recognized easily from the other ‘Dj abhis’ in the world, haha!”
Starting DJing/mixing: Age of 16
“My first remix was ‘Chakna Chakna’ from the movie Namastey London. It was a house mix. But so far, my favorite remix is ‘Toh Phir Aao’ (featuring David Guetta – Love is Gone) and that has to be because everyone loves it! ‘Discovision’ was the name of my first album…ah, the memories. My favorite mainstream artist is Benny Benassi and my favorite Desi artist is DJ Aqeel. I would love to work with DJ Aqeel for sure, as he was the one who started making innovative remixes in the South Asian industry. For non-Desi, I’d love to work with Benny Benassi and Timbaland…just imagine a track with awesome Hip-Hop beats and Benny’s orgasmic electro! Desi music is getting popular day by day across the globe. Already I see lot of Bollywood actors getting offers to work in Hollywood. So, the scene of urban South Asian music would be great. We might get to see lot of famous Desi artists workin with famous non-Desi artists.”
Favorite XDV Memory:
When DJ Desiplaya and others in XDV were impressed with my work and were ready to help me out.

Lil’ T – Publicist, Big Sister, Everything!Location: Jersey
“From New York to Mumbai, you’re in the mix with Xplicit Desi Vibes,” smiles Lil’ T. “I have no idea how I got stuck into doing the voice tags for these boys, but it is fun. It’s so random when someone messages you on MySpace though and is like, ‘Are you the girl who does the drops? You got a hot voice!’ Um…thanks, haha!”
Starting DJing/mixing: Um…I don’t think that question pertains to me!
Favorite XDV Memory:
What if I have more than one? Oh well…here goes! The first one would have to be my interview with Mentor Kolektiv on his show The Jump Off on the BBC Asian Network radio! It was an amazing experience. Another one would have to be meeting DjP for the first time at Six Flags and hangin’ out with him, haha. It’s really hard to pick out one favorite memory! I guess there are plenty more to come! I still have to make a road trip to New Orleans to visit DJ India and take his bird Mango! Haha!
